Hip Hop & R&B junior, Paige Stevenson, better known as NCognita, is taking the city by storm. The 20-year-old rapper and poet recently performed at BUKU and is celebrating her debut EP, “The Playbook,” during an on campus event from 2-6 pm on April 20th, 2022. The event will feature food, drinks and live music. “I feel really happy,” NCognita said. “I was able to be on a lineup with a lot of people I really respect.”
Originally from Los Angeles, the South Central native has spent the last three years juggling being a full-time student and working to make a name for herself in the industry. After being rejected to volunteer at BUKU festival multiple times, the rapper made a breakthrough this year and was booked to perform, according to the Loyola Maroon.
“The Playbook,” her debut EP, dropped on April 15 on all streaming platforms. Stevenson says the seven-track EP is a literal playbook of her life, tracking her life from her childhood passions to adulthood success. She hopes the EP inspires people to reflect on their lives and acts as a guide for a way to live. “I want this to be seen as a code,” NCognita said, “This is a standard to live by.” Ncognita said her education at Loyola has advanced her career in numerous ways, specifically a performance class she took her freshman year. “The Hip Hop & R&B music program allows artists to build a pathway for their careers,: “It’s definitely taught me a lot.”
Don't miss your chance to celebrate her success on campus this Wednesday afternoon from 2-6 pm in Dixon Court.
