Each year the Art and Design departments invite majors and minors to participate in educational trips focused on the visual arts. This year Assistant Professor of Art History Ben Benus and Assistant Professor of Art Karoline Schleh accompanied students on the fall trip to New York City.
Over the course of the four-day trip, students visited a number of exhibitions, including “Picasso Sculpture” at the Museum of Modern Art, “Ancient Egypt Transformed: The Middle Kingdom” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, “How Posters Work” at Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, “Archibald Motley: Jazz Age Modernist” at the Whitney Museum of American Art, “Andrea del Sarto: The Renaissance Workshop in Action,” at the Frick Collection, “The Power of Images: Early Soviet Photography, Early Soviet Film” at the Jewish Museum, and “Berlin Metropolis: 1918-1933” at the Neue Galerie.
Along with museum visits, students also explored contemporary art galleries and the High Line park in Chelsea, and attended an alumni dinner with the dean of the College of Music and Media and graduates of Loyola's art and design programs, currently living and working in New York."
