Loyola unveiled its sculpture garden on Nov. 1, 2008. The addition to campus was met with great enthusiasm from both the Loyola community and visitors.
The first sculpture for the garden, "Tapatawpa" by David Borgerding, was installed in spring 2008. For the opening of the garden, five additional sculptures by artists Jesús Moroles, John Scott, Lin Emery, Martin Payton, Wayne Amedee and Arthur Silverman were added.
Installed pieces include "Tango I, II, and III"by Silverman, "Tapatawpa" by Borgerding, "Flower Tree"by Emery, "Black Butterfly" by Scott, "Zig Zag Diamondback Columns" by Moroles, "Damballah" by Payton, and "New Morning" by Amedee.
Several factors came into play in order to make the sculpture garden a reality. The Silverman pieces were donated to the garden by Wayne and Diane Ducote. Artists Amedee and Borgerding also donated their sculptures for the garden. The remainging sculptures are on loan from the Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans.
The Loyola Sculpture Garden is located between Marquette and Bobet Hall, in the Academic Quad.
