A recording by Marcus St. Julien, D.M.A., organist and music instructor in the College of Music and Media at Loyola University New Orleans, was recently released by Raven Compact Discs. The album, “Romantics & Classics, the Dobson Organ in St. Joseph Abby,” was also reviewed in the January 2011 edition of The Diapason, the international journal of organ, harpsichord, carillon and church music.
The album features St. Julien’s 2000 recital program at St. Joseph Abby in St. Benedict, La., for the dedication of its 38-rank Dobson Opus 73 Organ. The performance includes Toccata in F, BWV 540, and Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582 by J. S. Bach; Prelude, Fugue and Variation by César Franck; and “Méditation à Ste. Clotilde,” by Philip James.
