Festivals
Loyola Bourgeois Band
Any High School in the Greater New Orleans area can submit two of their students to participate. Any instrument and all high school grade levels are accepted. There are two rehearsals and a concert conducted by Col. J.R. Bourgeois and Prof Brent Echols. For more information, contact Brent Echols (504-865-2027/baechols@loyno.edu
Dramatic Voice Symposium
The Loyola Dramatic Voice Symposium brings together world-renowned artists and teachers in the field of opera to present master classes and lectures for young dramatic singers and teachers of voice. The symposium will help young dramatic singers with their unique needs, including vocal technique, coaching, acting, career development, repertoire, and vocal health. The symposium will also present a wealth of information for teachers of voice who wish to learn more about how to develop and foster young dramatic voices within their own studios.
Loyola University Jazz Ensemble Festival
Matt Wilson will be the guest artist and clinician for the 2020 Loyola University Jazz Ensemble Festival. The festival is open to big bands or jazz combos from the Elementary through College level. A panel of expert musician/educators will be available Friday and Saturday to adjudicate your group. .
Loyola Choral Festival
The Loyola Choral Festival brings together the talents of visiting singers, Loyola faculty, and guest clinicians to learn and enjoy music together. Interest sessions focus on skills that singers need/want to learn (healthy vocal technique, diction, jazz techniques, “meet the composer”), while group rehearsals bring all singers together to rehearse and present a concert. There are also opportunities for singers to listen in concert sessions (NOVA: Cosmos and NOVA VOCE/Loyola Chambers: Bach Motets) and for directors to participate in choral reading sessions.
Loyola University Invitational Band Festival
The Loyola University Band Department invites talented high school bands from across the country to perform in our Invitational Band Festival and work with guest artists, The Boston Brass. This festival has a supportive and educational environment featuring concerts and masterclasses.The festival day will conclude with a concert by The Boston Brass and the Loyola University Wind Ensemble.
New Orleans Keyboard Festival
Presented by the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans, the New Orleans Keyboard Festival (NOKF) is held annually in conjunction with the New Orleans Piano Institute and bi-annually with the New Orleans International Piano Competition. During this wonderful week each summer, distinguished pianists from around the country and the world join local pianists in presenting a series of recitals, master classes, and lectures held at Loyola University.
Donald W. Wood Sr. Youth Vocal Competition
The Wood Competition is a competition for all Louisiana high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and was created by Debra Hirsch Wood (NOOA Board Member, Chair of the NOOA Education Committee, and Wood Competition Director). The purpose of the Wood Competition is to promote artistic excellence, provide financial support to young vocalists, and encourage young local singers in vocal music.

Loyola University Design Summer Camp
Do you like to create? Design? Draw? Use new technology? Why not spend time this summer doing just that and more. Loyola’s Design Summer Camp allows you to work with professors and professionals in the field in many different creative areas: game design,animation design, photo design, 3d printing and design, hand lettering/chalking design, coding, and design build and more.

Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp
Founded in 1994, the Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp is a pre-eminent jazz education program developing the next generation of Jazz artists and preserving the great American art form. Students must select one primary instrument for the program. In addition to studying a primary instrument, each student may choose to study one of the following electives: Music Composition, Swing Dance or Voice. Students must be between the ages of 10 to 21 years old.
Loyola University Kids Art Summer Camp
Kids Art Summer Camp is an annual visual art enrichment program for children ages 7 to 14 years of age. An art exhibition for family and friends will be held at the end of the camp.
Loyola International Music Institute - NOLA
Spend a session or two in one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world immersed in an environment of intensive private lessons, master classes, technique classes, ensembles, as well as solo and ensemble performances at the end of each session. Featuring a hand-picked, world-class faculty.

Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras
Year round youth orchestra
The Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestras (GNOYO) has been recognized both locally and nationally for its commitment to music education. Now in its twenty-first season, GNOYO provides young musicians the opportunity to participate in a high-quality full orchestra program. Participants significantly improve individual performance and ensemble skills, while developing professional attitudes and discipline, which empower them to take initiative in their schools and community and to pursue individual and team excellence in all life endeavors. GNOYO’s exciting concerts include music ranging from Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture to John Williams’ Jurassic Park.
Loyola Preparatory Arts Program
Year round music and dance instruction for children ages 3+ and adults.
Founded in 1975, the Loyola Preparatory Arts Program is one of the few comprehensive arts programs in the metropolitan New Orleans area, offering a structured program of studies in piano, dance, voice, guitar, string instruments with additional areas as needed and available. Loyola Prep participants are offered a well-rounded education that prepares them to participate in and appreciate public performances as well as for entrance into college music and dance degree programs. With music and dance as a humanizing force in life, the Jesuit ideals of truth, wisdom and virtue are enhanced through study of and enjoyment in the performance of the arts. The Preparatory Arts Program provides the community with life-long learning opportunities for professional arts study and enrichment activities in an academic environment.
