Stepping out of your comfort zone can be scaring, whether it’s speaking in front of a class, sitting at a new table for lunch, or writing features about amazing and talented people when you’ve never done it before, and pray every time that you don’t turn in something stupid… Did that get a little too personal? Regardless, a little challenge never stops Loyola Students. TAD seniors Gabby Garcia and Nico Cardelli have taken on the enriching challenge of studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea at EWHA Women's University, to study Musical Theatre. Garcia says, “Coming to Seoul has been one of the best things I have ever done. While it was very stressful to get here during a pandemic, being here has been so rewarding.”
Regarding their experience, Cardelli says, “I felt pretty confident! It was a little nerve racking at first of course but it’s so worth [it], I’m so glad I did this.” We couldn’t be more proud of these two for taking such a huge leap into an immersive experience. We asked them how they’re doing now, and Garcia says:
“It's November 16th in Seoul today, so I have about a month left and it's crazy how fast the time went. It has been an incredible experience here so far, and I have seen so much in my time here. I have loved being in South Korea and look forward to coming back in the future. I have taken way too many pictures since I have been here, but that is because there is so much to see and do in Seoul! So, so far, I have just been a student and part time explorer, and I have loved every minute of it.”
Cardelli says, “it’s going wonderful! I’m having so much fun. I had a few rough patches here and there but now I feel like I’m thriving!” We can’t wait to see what challenge they take on next. If you're interested in studying abroad too, check out this link to learn more about the program.
