RICH CAMPUS LIFE

We believe in educating the whole person through rigorous academic studies and plentiful cultural experiences. We encourage you to immerse yourself in campus life at Loyola by taking advantage of the many services we have to offer, including career development, partnerships with local theatres, frequent networking opportunities, Greek life, and student associations.

INTERNSHIPS

We care that our students discover their strengths and pursue a plan that applies them beyond the university. Our school offers a specialized career coach to help with professional development and post-graduate options. Internships are offered through partnerships with local New Orleans theatres and by special arrangement with out-of-state theatres. Recent internships for our students have included: the Tony Awarding Winning Hartford Stage Company, Alley Theatre in Houston, and Springboard in New York City run by the American Theatre Wing. Local internships have been held at Southern Repertory Theatre, Jefferson Performing Arts Society and the Contemporary Arts Center.

If you’d rather do your own research into available internships, here are a few "go-to" sites for identifying internships specific to theatre students:

Playbill's Callboard for Internships

OffStage.com - Internship Board

The Broadway League - Internship Board

Broadway Dreams - Internship Board

GUEST ARTISTS AND PROFESSIONAL RESIDENCIES

Loyola University New Orleans has a long history of welcoming professional theatre companies and practitioners to campus as a way of continuing to nurture our students’ education and professional development. As of March 2019, Loyola has built an exciting partnership with the Tennessee Williams Theatre Company; now in residence at Loyola, the Tennessee Williams Theatre Company is the only professional theatre company in the U.S. committed solely to producing plays with a major focus on the works of America’s great playwright.

We regularly welcome guest directors and artists, most recently and notably, Tony Kushner (Angels in America), Bryan Batt (Mad Men), Jeffrey LaHoste and The Tectonic Theatre Project (The Laramie Project), Ann Mahoney (The Walking Dead) and Phil Colgan (dance captain of Hamilton).

STUDY ABROAD

Loyola assists students in their search for study abroad programs. Programs of note include: Binghamton University in London, University of Birmingham, British/American Dramatic Academy at Oxford, England, as well as a program in the works in Sicily, Italy.

GRADUATE SCHOOL

Want to continue your education? Loyola offers personalized help with career and post-graduate strategies. Recent graduates have furthered their study at NYU, UCLA, Roosevelt University, and The University of Missouri-Kansas City. Take advantage of our Student Success Center for Graduate & Professional School Exploration, or contact our career coach, Katie Krikorian at kbandy@loyno.edu to discuss professional development and post-graduate options.
