Brian Schrader '09, graduate of the Theatre Arts and Business Administration program, recently returned to the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance to talk with our students about his career as the Associate Company Manager with the Troika National Tour of The Bodyguard The Musical starring Deborah Cox. He offered a master class for students entitled "Loyola to National Tour" where he spoke about starting a career in the business of theatre, running a company, networking, and professional conduct. He gave a brief insight on keeping professionalism in the theatre, while managing the daily activities of the actors and crew. He also offered anecdotes about how he worked with child actors on major Broadway shows, including Annie and School of Rock. Finally, Brian gave our students sound advice on actor behavior, expectations, respectability, and professionalism on and off the stage. Students were able to ask questions and learn from his experience. We are thankful that such a successful alum would share his time with us. Some of Brian’s other Tour Credits include: Associate/Assistant General Manager for: An American in Paris (1st nat’l), 42nd Street, Annie (U.S., Singapore, & Jakarta), Dancing Pros Live, Bring It On (U.S. & Japan), Ghost (1st nat’l), Mike Tyson’s: Undisputed Truth, Priscilla Queen of The Desert (1st nat’l), West Side Story, and Catch Me If You Can (1st nat’l). Prior to joining Troika, Brian served as the Company/Production Manager for one of Louisiana’s largest non-profit arts organizations.
